The idea for this record came to him during a trip to New York in 2016 after quietly watching his own life and the lives of those around him chaotically, yet purposefully unfold. The artist was inspired by a combination of characters he describes as “a painter who flourished and struggled in New York while his journey skyrocketed and then unraveled, a writer who served in the army post Sept. 11 and returned home to the mundane life and duties of 21st century suburban America,” along with the last seven years of joys and tribulations. After carefully crafting the basis for his story, the protagonist was born and “Out of the Light” was created around real experiences told through the eyes of one single character.

“Out of the Light” is the artist’s first full-length album, after a successful debut EP last year, and was recorded at Modern Electric Sound Recorders (Paul Cauthen/Pearl Charles/Becky Middleton) in Dallas. The record includes ten rambling tracks produced and engineered by Jeff Saenz and assistant engineer Noah Eichler. Saenz also played lead guitar, sang harmonies and additional instruments on the album. Nello brought in Ryan Ake on drums (The Texas Gentlemen), Scott Lee on bass (The Texas Gentlemen) and Daniel Creamer on keys (The Texas Gentlemen). On select tracks, assistant engineer Eichler chimed in on percussion and drums, Sevans Henderson on B3, Joey Todd on lead guitar and Jenna Clark on harmonies.

“Silas’ lyrics are fantastic, and he covers just about every emotional avenue on this record,” said Saenz. “We are hoping to work together again soon and look forward to seeing where his musical journey takes him.”

“Daingerfield,” Nello’s debut EP out last May, was inspired by his East Texas roots and hometown of the same name. Shortly after, the artist’s original Christmas song “Chelsea Boots on a Holiday” received airplay on KXT 91.7’s “2016 Holiday Playlist.” Nello has shared the stage with notable musicians including Paul Cauthen, Dan Dyer, Ruby Boots, The Roomsounds, Wesley Geiger, The Texas Gentlemen, Carson McHone, Wilderado, River Whyless, Pearl Earl and The Roosevelts.

“Cruising in from North Texas, Magnolia Boy Silas Nello just released ‘Daingerfield.’ In contrast to the Dallas area, this EP is anything but flat,” said Nanobot Rock. “Nello’s poetic southern songwriter style dances along the fret board with dusty boots and worn jeans as it plays to a heartfelt collection of six tracks intertwined with an impassioned reflection.”

Silas Nello’s “Out of the Light” LP will be available for purchase digitally and on vinyl this summer. Released on Hand Drawn Records on Friday, July 28, the artist’s debut full-length will be available on iTunes, Spotify and the artist’s website www.silasnello.com.
