Hand Drawn Records Presents: The Unofficial Showcase - Austin, Texas (The Brass House, March 15th, 2014)

We’d like to take a minute to introduce you to each of the 24 artists who will be taking the stage at our inaugural, “Not-South By” Showcase. We’ve dividing the artists into groups of six, so that you don’t get information overload and have a music-related meltdown. So, doing the math, this will be the first of four parts we are deftly calling, “Meet the Artists.”

#1. BAD MOUNTAIN (ARLINGTON, TX)
Americana tinged with gospel and folk. Goes well with; Justin Townes Earl, Old Crow Medicine Show, Robert Ellis.

#2. KALU JAMES (AUSTIN, TX)
Nigerian born soul artist, mixed with old and new world appeal. Goes well with; David Ramirez, Fela Kuti, Marvin Gaye.

#3. JOHN EARLE MAINORD (DENTON, TX)
Folk, country and soul. Goes well with; Richard Buckner, Van Morrison, Jim Croce.

#4. BIRD MEETS WINTER (DENTON, TX)
Folk-centric, lush vocal landscapes. Goes well with; Midlake, Iron & Wine, Grizzly Bear.

#5. MACHINE DON’T LIE (AUSTIN, TX)
Alt-rock with unique vocals and brooding appeal. Goes well with; Land of Talk, Fair to Midland.

#6. JONATHAN JETER (GREENVILLE, TX)
Alt-country blended with gravelly Americana. Goes well with; Lucero, Ryan Bingham, Drive By Truckers.
