Un Chien’s New Single “Amarillo” to be Released June 7th on Hand Drawn Records
On June 7th, award-winning psych rock quintet, Un Chien, will be releasing their newest song, Amarillo, exclusively on Hand Drawn Records. Amarillo will be the first single off the band’s upcoming sophomore LP, Where We Belong.
As a maturation of the band’s heralded style —and without the aid of overly-wrought vocal reverb (which was the staple of Un Chien’s debut eponymous record)— the new song shines a light on lead vocalist, Stephen Beatty’s lyrical prowess and on the band’s covertly pop sensibilities. With straightforward hooks and sing-along backing harmonies (featuring the supremely talented Rachel Gollay), Amarillo captures the band in a transitional state from morose to pensive.

Beatty describes the inspiration for the song; “…it was very cathartic for me, reflecting on a long distance relationship and the ending of that relationship.” The singer goes on to describe the process of writing as “fueled by raw emotion”, and that, “the music and lyrics just came pouring out of me.”
Scheduled to release later this summer, the full-length album, Where We Belong, was recorded in the heart of Dallas' oldest music district, Deep Ellum, at the neighborhood’s only all-analog tape recording studio, Ferralog Recording Studios by producer Nathan Adamson (Goodnight Ned, Jack Kerowax, Party Static).
